Right now I'm unsure as to what I want to do. I have been peeking and seeing what is out there in the job market as for my field and the area that I live in, but it looks grim, but who knows what will come up later. Well all is needed now is my degree to be sent to me so I that I have something to show for. I am proud that I was able to finally get a degree.
There was a small graduation ceremony that I attended, but the commencement won't be until May and I will definitely be there to walk across the stage. Eight universities in Texas are partaking this opportunity in making Grad TX to help the adult students to be successful in their college path as well as in their careers.

Grad TX will allow returning adult students to use an online tool to see which classes that were taken before will be able to transfer to the university they have chosen. Also Grad TX students will be able to read about how other students, like themselves, are handling going to college full or part time while managing family and work at the same time.

If you are wanting to learn more, you are welcome to visit: www.GradTX.org

ACKKK!!

OMG, I was about to have a heart attack Sunday evening when I received an email saying that I had an extra class I needed to take before I could graduate. Talk about the open jaw with the words, what the... coming out. I went back to look around on the classes that I took and the graduation requirements on the school's website plus on my transcript to see what I was missing. There were two different routes that I could take to graduate and I took the route that didn't include the class that said I needed. I did take the class last fall, but unfortunately gave up on it and I didn't mind it because I thought I didn't need it anyway.

Anyway, I emailed the person back who handles the graduation requirements and such and luckily the returned email had good news. When I explained to her what route I was using, the newest one they had, she understood and went ahead and confirmed that I would be able to graduate after once I finish my last three classes this fall.

Whew.. talk about doing the cabbage patch dance to that good news.. lol

One Semester Left

I'm at the end of the road.... and it's been a long road.

I finished up spring semester at the beginning of May and I knew I would do well in two out of three of my classes. Another semester, another 3 classes and another promise to myself like other semesters. Last semester, I didn't put much umph into it and barely got through one of my classes and not at all in another. I'm surprised my GPA is still decent, but what can I do about it now, it's done and over with.

I am really hoping though that I will pull this through. It's a new year and it's really time to think positive so that I can make these grades, get the last classes out of the way in fall so that I can finally graduate. I already have it planned, just need to focus... I say that every time.. lol. Monday I start back and really anxious to get back into it. Although I was ready for that winter break, after a week, I needed my routine again, plus the kids were driving me up the wall after Christmas.. lol

As always, I hope those who are still pushing through to have a good semester and also good year. By the way, if anyone is searching for some personalized baby gifts, especially if you know someone who just recently had a baby or was a lucky one to have a new years baby, have a peak at BabyStuffGifts.

Graduation Postponed...

And it bites, for real. I have only 4 classes to take.. well possibly five, I'm do so hot in Data Structures, which postpones my graduation end of Fall 2011. Sigh, I really wanted to graduate on time, but that is unlikely since the very last two classes that I will have to take after the Spring is only offered in the Fall from the looks of it.

I so really want to take a break from school, but I'm so close to finishing. If I didn't have to take Data Structures, it would be all good. I know for sure this isn't something that I would like to get into, or at least what the classes being offered, CIS doesn't really sound interesting. Oh well, I'll have to chalk it upon and keep pushing forward. On a good note though, registration for Spring will be open starting this coming Sunday and I am excited in registering for Graphic Design. There is only 12 spaces and I am determine to make sure I be online to register that class first to get in. I loved graphic designing, especially doing it by computer, when I went to college right after high school, that was my major. Sometimes I wish I should have just picked up where I left off on there, but any who, it will give me a bit of a break from thinking too hard I guess on computer systems.. lol.

Losing Motivation

I hate to say it, but I am losing motivation through my classes this semester. Today I have to return to finish up the second part of fall semester... 8, long more weeks to go.

Selected for eCollegeFinder’s top 50 Freshmen Advisors

<div align="RIGHT" style="line-height: 100%; Hard to believe. I am really hoping that I will be graduating this coming summer if my last two classes that I need are offered, but if not then I won't be able to graduate until next fall, but it's all good, I'm almost there.

A little bit of update. I did take some summer classes, three of them. 2 web design type course and another programming course. Let's just say I really enjoyed the web design classes and if they just offered that at the college, that is what I would have taken throughout. Now my programming classes, not so much of enjoyment. It was hard, especially since I had taken the basic course 2 years ago when I first started. Talk about major disappointment on that class. I took it because it was a pre requisite for the data structure class that I have to take for my major this fall. It's funny how now there is a light bulb that goes off when the instructor reviewed over a few things and I understood it some. I also have an operating system course that I'm take and then my last class of accounting for my minor which deals with taxes.

So far so good on the first few weeks. At least I know what these instructors expect since 2 of the three I have had already. The one that is new to me, I'm still learning on and from the first pop quiz that we had last night, now I know what I should be studying and reviewing, even for all of my classes.

Until next time...

College Campus Mama Is Being Featured

I received an email this morning that this blog being featured at accreditedonlinecolleges.com as one of the 40 Best Adult Education Blogs. I passed all of my classes especially the one that I was having trouble in. Well, I'm glad that I have gotten all of my general classes, I guess you would call those, out of the way so now I can focus on my classes for my major. Well, I have one more class for my minor in Accounting, but that's all good. The accounting class that I had for this semester was a good one. I pretty much understood it better than my other accounting classes that I had taken in the past and I think also because of the instructor is a good one too. I made a B in that class and very proud of it too.

Summer semester starts for me in another week and I'm taking three classes which are all computer classes. An HTML class, Advanced Computer Programming and a Web class. Not sure what the Web class entails until I go to it. It's spring break and I really just have been lounging and keeping my mind off of school other then planning my schedule for summer semester which is done now :) It's been relaxing and my mind have been rested, so I have enjoyed it and I'll be ready when classes start again on Monday. The first part of the semester has been hectic though, due to my first fast track class and because of the weather we had been getting. Tons of snow. I'm doing good so far and at the moment have my grades decent, so far a C+ and hopefully will make a B at least for my fast track class. I'm trying to stay focus and trying to keep up the best that I can.

So this is just a quick update for the time being and now time to go back and fry my brain a bit on facebook.. lol

New Year, New Semester

January 11th is when I begin the Spring 2010 semester. I only have about a year and a half left, if even that, to complete my college career. Wow, can't believe it though! Anyway, I passed all of my classes from fall semester with two C+'s and a B+. One of the C's I know I probably brought down because of my last two test before the final exam due to not putting in as much effort as I could have, but I know what my fault was and will learn and move on like normal. I have three classes again for the spring, one full term and the other two that are fast track course. Again I have to take an accounting class since Accounting is my minor, but at least I was able to get an instructor that I enjoyed from my first accounting class.

Hope everyone's year will start off as a good one for you =)

Kind of Off Topic....

I'm not much of a fashion type of a girl, but I do tend to browse clothing and accessories either window shopping or online browsing. I've been always wanting to get a pair of those ugg boots that I have seen quite a few women wear when the fall and winter season comes and think they are really cute. I like that the they have a flat heel as well because I am already tall enough and not the best of an agile person walking sometimes.. lol I also like how they appear to keep your feet warm which is a bonus as I tend to have cold feet year round it seems.

I came across a website that is having an ugg boots sale and if I get some extra money I wouldn't mind getting at least one pair to have, hopefully when the tax time rolls around in the next month or so, that would be ideal. These would also be stylish and comfortable especially when I have to walk from campus end to campus end for the upcoming semester. The boots aren't the only thing that the site has on sale. I seen that they had even ugg boots for kids as well which are cool. It is also nice that I can order these online and not have to worry about going from place to place finding something that would suit me. Anyway, so I know this is way off topic from my normal stuff, but I thought I would share for those who are looking for new wardrobe to wear during their school semester.

Another Semester Done

Well after next Wednesday, I will be done with fall semester. It has been a very busy semester for me, very intensive, lots of books to read, lot of papers to write, but so far well worth it and enjoyable. LOL, did I say enjoyable... =) Well in one class, I am taking away a lot then when I entered it in August. I have been doing well though in my classes and making B's so far which I am really proud of. I still have a ways to go, but only a year and a half left. When I was feeling out the course evaluations for my classes, I circle that I was a Junior. A Junior. Wow. Almost there, almost there.....

I'm Very Proud of Myself

So I checked online to see if they were posted yet and they were. This weekend and next Wednesday are when I have to do my exams. I think I will do find for my Computers & Management class, just have to study the terms for the closed book portion. Now for the Jazz Appreciation class, I definitely have to study as I have not done very well for my last two exams. I'm keeping afloat because of the discussion questions that I'm making 100% on. I have one last live performance paper that I have to do that is due this coming Monday. I need to do well on that paper and on the exam to keep my B that I have in the course. I think as long as I stay focused, I will do fine.

Doing Well So Far

So I am proud of myself so far. I am doing pretty good in both of my classes and already had my first test in both classes. I do have to say that I could have done a lot better for my jazz test as in doing a little more studying of the terms but I am making a B+ in the class. In my Computers and Management class, I was sweating bullets on the closed book part of the test because I think I got a bit confused on some of the questions. On the open book part, I surprised myself because I didn't think I did very well on that, but I received all the points that was for both Excel problems that we had to do. So I am making a B+ in that so far too. Yay! Also, I'm doing the extra credit work at the end of the lessons to better help me understand what I need to do and plus get the extra 5 points at the end of the semester. It may seem not much but it still will pull up my grade a little more. So this semester I am really trying my best to stay focus and do my homework thoroughly so that I can keep my grades up. I'm trying to be in the mindset of making myself strive for more than a C in my classes as I had the other semesters.

Crash Course In Microsoft Excel

So my Computer & Management class we are learning to use Excel and Access programs. Well, I am plus maybe 3 or 4 other people in the class and everyone else has some knowledge about it. I've only worked in Excel and that was using it to work one problem in my statistics class last fall semester. I have a lot of catching up to do to understand how to use it, but at least I have this weekend and a couple of more days before the next classes to get the basic grasp of it. I did 1 of the first 3 chapters that we are going over at the moment and so far so good. There is going to be a lot of practice that I have to do each night to make sure I understand it. Our first test is already fast approaching, June 8, but the instructor has said that he will let us know as we going along each chapter, what will be on the test which is good. Plus we are able to use our books, notes, problems we worked on at home, etc to help us with it.

We also are able to do extra credit which is worth 5 points added to your final grade, which is cool. I'm going to try to do it since the instructor says you have to do it all or nothing, so I'm going to do it all as best as I can. Hopefully me being more focused and work harder this semester will kind of bring my GPA up some. I know it won't be a lot, but I'm determined not to go backwards.

Looking to Get Money For Your Textbooks?

I was searching online to find some websites to see if I could sell my textbooks, especially since it is summer time now and not really many students would pay any attention to online campus bulletins that are posted. I did a couple of bulletins for a few days with no bites, that's why I went online. I found a site called collegetextbooks.com and it is awesome I think. I was able to send 5 out of 7 or eight of the textbooks that I had and that was about a week or so ago. Today I got payment for those for $65 and some change. Although I wasn't able to get back as much as was paid for a couple of the books that I did out of pocket, but at least I got something for it. For the other books I found another site that you can donate or sell your textbooks at valorebooks.com. Both of these sites, you are shown how much they will give you for your books and I think you can either be paid by a check or through paypal, which is cool. So now I'm just waiting for about $20 or so from valorebooks, so in total I will eventually received about $85 which isn't bad. So I thought I would post this for those of you who are looking for other alternatives to selling your books.

I'm Ready for Classes to Begin Tomorrow

Well my financial aid for my books dropped in my account on Wednesday I think and so yesterday since I would be out with the kids anyway, I trucked it over to the campus bookstore to buy my textbooks. Although my business class that I'm taking had some used books, which I got, they were still expensive though, even though I'm not paying out of pocket for them. I'm weird, I know, somewhat complaining how expensive the books are, but I'm not actually paying for them.. lol. Anyway, it was over $200, not including the snacks and drinks that I got the kids along with that. So tomorrow it's back to learning, doing homework and writing, but hopefully not to much of the writing. :)

Well I Passed My Classes

And I'm really glad that I did. I am siked that I made a B in my Film Art class. I was really wondering on what I would get on the exam since some of the questions were the same as the midterm, but I couldn't study them because somehow I lost my midterm test, but I made a B on the exam. Yay! Now my accounting is another subject though. I made a D on that. It's a passing grade, but I think I lucked out on that though. I was really worried about if I made that grade or even an F, that it would really effect my GPA which was 2.03. Now it is a 2.07 I guess because of my Film Art class. I guess I am lucky to not get on probation and plus since I changed my major back to Computer Technology. Well, live and learn and keep working hard is what I try to go by.

Monday is when summer classes begin and this is a 10 week semester, so I bet it is going to fly by quickly. I only have two classes to take which I think I mentioned somewhere earlier in a post. Computers & Management and Jazz Appreciation. Hopefully my financial aid for the books will be ready before or on Monday so that I can get the 3 books that I need for the classes. What I have already would be a few dollars shy of getting them all, and I could really use the cash advance. The week off has been moving quickly, but I think that is because I am trying to keep myself busy with working my little jobs online plus getting out of the house with the kids when I can. So that soaks up some block of time until the evening, but I'm ready for Monday though. =)

During the Next Week or So

I have 2 exams to take before it's a week of so break before summer school. Tomorrow the class will be getting the Accounting exam to take home to do which will be due next Wednesday. Since next Monday is just an optional review day for that class, I may just save gas money and stay at home to finish working on the exam or just go to the library about 5 minutes or so from the house and do it that away. Thursday is my film art exam. It should be easy since it's some questions from the midterm and then what we learned from then until now. I just have to reveiw that and I should be good. It just hasn't been on my mind really, but every now and again, I may just start back up with something to talk about =) Well, as my title says, I have changed my major yet again and back to computers. I am struggling in Accounting big time and I think that I will just keep that as a minor since I have already taken 4 courses in the subject. Next spring semester I would only have 2 courses to take and then I'm done with the accounting stuff. I understand the basics of everything, but as it got more advanced, it seems like my brain just stopped. I don't know.

Anyway, I'm taking a couple of classes for the summer. For one, to play catch up a bit. Secondly, I really don't want to sit around at home all summer long, and three, I'm able to get a partial pell grant to go even though a loan had to be taken out for the rest of it. I keep saying each semester I can't wait for it to start, but it's just that I have new classes to learn from and more subjects to catch my interests. This summer I will be taking a jazz appreciation class and I think I will have to go to 2 jazz music events, something like that, during this course. I never really listened to jazz before, but I don't mind giving a try to different music genres.

Well, I hope everyone is doing well in their courses....
Until next time.

Thank You

I just wanted to say thank you to all that gave me positive comments of encouragement. I'm really happy for that. Now the bad news is that I made a D for my final grade in Accounting. My heart dropped when I saw the grade that was posted. After having a C in the class, that is what I got. I knew that when I walked out after doing my exam, even when I was taking it, that I was going to bomb it. I didn't put forth into studying it at all to tell you the truth, but I deserved that grade for that reason. Ugh, I hate that, but I learned my lesson. I really have to work harder next semester. I think a lot of stressful things that has been going on, didn't help me to concentrate on what I needed to do, but I can't change it now. Well no use to dwell on it, just have to move on. I do dread of having to study, study, study to make sure I can at least pull a C or better on my exams to keep the C grades that I already have. In history, the exams are only 2 five page essays to write which is due on Tuesday.. I only started on the first essay last night with 2 pages of it. I would have started earlier, but I wasn't feeling well the past few days until yesterday when I got up. I'm going to try hard to do both essay before the end of tonight hopefully so that I won't be struggling to try to finish them Monday night into Tuesday morning. At least Statistics, we will be able to use our books, past test, homework and notes to do our exam... Yay! so I will definitely make the two hours useful to make a passing grade. Accounting I defininitely will have to study on. This time, no notes, homework, or book to help me with this. I will have to study off of my past tests. Crossing fingers and everything else that I will pass these courses though. Good luck to everyone else on their exams if you have them coming up to do.

eLearners.com

Accredited online universities are having many people looking into taking courses from home due to wanting not to travel so much back and forth to a traditional campus, maybe to save a little more money, or even just to study at their own pace and more in a familiar scenery such as at their own home. There are only like 3 1/2 more weeks of school left for me this semester and it's going to be a busy 3 1/2 weeks. Tons of papers to write, test to do and then exams. With the Thanksgiving break that is coming up too, those weeks are going to go by even quicker. I'm steadily trying to bring up my grade in Statistics to a C. The instructor is assigning more homework assignments to help us out a bit from low test scores that we all are bringing in. My Immediate Accounting I class is ok. I just have to practice the homework assignments that are given, although my first test I didn't do so hot on. I even spent the entire week doing the test before it had to be turned in. I took my time and went through my notes and textbook that we were able to use and still didn't do well. I just have to try harder.

Registration for Spring 2009 classes started this past Monday. I went to my advisor and got what I needed for registering online, although I still have to pay for my parking ticket before I can register for my classes. Trying to do little extra jobs online is what is also keeping me busy so that I can get some extra money for that. Hopefully I will be able to pay it Monday *crossing fingers* So next semester, I'm planning to take only 3 classes to still keep my full time status, but also so that I don't feel overloading and overwhelmed like I was this semester. This weekend I have another take home test to do for Statistics to finish up, a letter to write to an imaginary CEO for my accounting class and then some reading for my history class. I'm planning to get started on my assignments later tonight when the kids, including hubby, are asleep so that I can concentrate on what I need to do.

Overwhelmed....

My Mom Would Be Great For This

My mom is really proud of me to be going back to school and always tell me that she wishes she could do it and she has been thinking about going to college for as long as I can remember. I think that she would be good at trying for classes online and especially in medical assistant courses. She does something similar at her current job working at a nursing home. This probably would be good since she would be able to be at home and taking her classes when she is able to especially since she works a full time job. She would also be able to get her Medical Assistant Certificate within 6 to 8 weeks. She would learn things such as medical terminology, patient communication, medical billing and insurance claims and other things required for the course. Since she would be doing this online, she could also do her medical clinical labs right from her computer.

St. Augustine School of Medical Assistance is the college that would offer this opportunity to her. What I thought was also cool is that she could get a discount on the tuition fee if she knows someone that would like to take online classes as well. It's close to a $200 discount from an already low tuition fee of $645. She also would be able to register online quickly and get started right away on her path to becoming a non traditional student, like me =) But if anyone else is looking to get into this career path then you should have a look at this medical assistant school.

What Celebrity Does Your Instructor Remind You Of?

Have you ever had an instructor that put you in mind of a celebrity or someone that you may know or have known. My history instructor, from the first day of class, looks like Bill Nye, the Science Guy. lol. I guess you can call the instructor Bill Nye, the History Guy.

So who all has a celebrity instructor on your campus?

Need to Buckle Down in Statistics

So I found out that I'm not doing well in Statistics. I mean not well at all, I have a D in that class so far. Yeah, I was surprised to, but I can see why. The first test we had I didn't do well at all and it was an open book, open note test. Also we only had two assignments that were given to us that needed to be turned in and that's it. I know one of the assignments I got an A, but I'm not sure what I got on my second assignment. So the rest of the rest of this week up until Tuesday night, I am going to take my time to do the test that we have to turn in on Wednesday nights class. I didn't know I was doing so terrible.... ugh.

On another note, I am making a C in history class at the moment, but I don't know what I made for my Accounting I class right now, hopefully a passing one. Monday is when classes start back up and I will be in Immediate Accounting I, another fast track class and hopefully the instructor will be lively as the other one.

Increase Your Vocabulary

I thought this was something kind of cool and help in maybe writing essays and papers or even just to know new vocabulary. Remember in my other post where I say that I don't like writing much, I think it could be because that I feel as though I don't have a growing vocabulary I guess, therefore I tend to use the same words over and over. It would also help me with meaning of words as well. I saw this vocabulary software online at Vocaboly.com that can help students and there is even a free trial to try it out. It's also nice that it works with newer and older operation systems on your computer such as Windows 98 to Vista.

I Don't Think I Did Well....

I don't think I did well at all on my midterm in history class or for my exam in accounting. I get bored though kind of quickly and try seek out new songs that are out when I get the chance. (I'm not up to date on what's out at the moment though). Whatever I find, I go to Half Price iTunes to get some of the music which they have up to 80% iTunes discount, which is cool. And what music I get from the website, I can actually save them on iTunes successfully. What's even cool is that since I take my laptop with me to campus, I can still listen to my music if I happen to forget my Ipod.

So what kind of music would you suggest I could get on the next round when I want to change up on my Ipod. I can listen to anything really like R&B, Pop, 70s, 80s, 90s music. Anything that can me bobbing my head to while I'm doing homework or even to wind down to when I get home. If any of you decide to check out the site, I think it's well worth it because you can get 80% off on iTunes!.

Accounting Test, Exam, Midterms and a Parking Ticket

So starting on a happy note, I got a B on the third test in accounting. I had a huge grin on my face, I couldn't believe that I made a B. Everyone in class did well, there weren't any complaints so that ended my night on a good note. I have the exam on Wednesday night along with a project due on the same night in accounting. There is a midterm for History on Tuesday night and then a take home test that will be given to us in Statistics to be done over the fall break.

On the other hand, the same night, I ended up getting a parking ticket on campus. I parked in the designated area, didn't do a speeding violation, didn't park out of line or anything. I got it because my vehicle isn't registered, I guess to use on campus. Over the summer I had to get a new tag and wasn't able to make it to the CCE check-in when they had it at the beginning of August, but I knew that I had to get it registered. You know how things go, a lot of stuff on your mind and plate and a few things just slip. Well I will be paying a big $100 for that slip. I didn't make it in time before the office closed to do so on Thursday, so hopefully Tuesday I can get there early enough to get that done. It's funny though, the one area that I don't normally park in is where I get the ticket. The two areas that I do park out, all the time where I normally just pull into a space, I never gotten a ticket (knock on wood).....

WooHoo, Got a C

A low C is what I got on my second test in accounting. I know I could have done a bit better especially on one part of the test where I knew I should have studied a bit more on. But I'm happy that I did understand what I was suppose to do a little bit more on this one and watching an accounting lecture on YouTube, helped me out some too. Have you every looked on YouTube as a study guide other than watch the dog riding on a skate board..lol. That is what I did an came upon an instructor that went through the chapters and did example problems. Although my instructor is clear on his lectures and doing problems, I just needed a refresher on some things. So check that out next time to see there is a video that can help out with your school work.

My statistics test..... well I did at least pass. There are two more weeks left before the fall break and I am ready for my brain to rest some. Today, I woke up with a cold that the kids had earlier this week, so I think I will stay home from class today since it isn't much that I will miss from my history class. I think sitting in the cold buildings and then since fall is upon us, walking around on campus in the cold, windy air at night isn't going to help me. So hopefully I will get some rest this weekend since I don't have much work to do for my classes.

And the Grade Was....

For my accounting test, not a good one, even when the instructor based it on a 10 point scale of the grades like 100-90 is an A, so forth and so on. I was one point from a very low C if I'm calculating it right. The good news is that he will allow us to take the test over if we feel as though it wasn't our best work and that grade can replace the one we got on this test. So I am debating about it. The highest I am allowed to make on it is a 75, so that would be a B. I guess I should go ahead and try to get a better grade on it. I hate falling below a C on things when I know the information. Just looking back through the test it was mostly a few points here and there from where I may have switched things around and the multiple choice hurt me too. It was mainly on definitions kind of. So Monday is when I can take it over, then there is another test that is due at the end of Tuesday night that I have to take for my Accounting class. So that means I have to do a ton of studying this weekend.

I had a take home test and a in class test in my statistics class. We were able to use our notes and textbooks for the take home text and then notes for the in class text. I get the jist of figuring out the problems that are given to me, but when it comes to explaining what it all means, then forget about. So I know there will be points off of that part that needed explaining... sigh. I have one more test for Accounting and then an exam for that class, then it will be on to Immediate Accounting I. At least I won't have to worry about buying anymore textbooks for the next few accounting classes since they will be using the same book.

Another draft essay is due today for my HP: History 101 class in which I finished doing not to long ago. My whole intention was to do it bit by bit, but I didn't know which essay question to do, then didn't really know how to approach and when trying to do it late, late last night.. conflict aroused about so I put it off until this morning. Did I mention, I don't like to write papers... lol. Comprehending literature is not my thing. Give me a few math problems or some science/chemistry questions and I will work that out to death. lol.

It's almost TGIF... woohoo.

Don't You Hate It...

That when it's time to take a test and you have all the information in your head.. you just know what to do or what to say for a question and all of a suddenly, it's like you didn't study at all. What's even worse is that you are able to use your notes or the textbook itself and still can't answer the question... ugh. That is what is going on with my Statisitcs. I know what I'm suppose to be doing, but to explain it, its difficult. The answer probably can be found so easily, maybe, in the book or my notes, but I'm not finding it. Well, all I can say is that I did my best on it, hopefully.

The Accounting instructor is suppose to give our test back on Monday from last week. I'm anxious to see what I got. I know I practiced as much as I could for example problems and took notes. Toward the end of the test though, the information wouldn't write out on the page though. So I know there will be quite a few points taken off, but at least I tried to show a bit of work of what I was trying to do to answer the question. I guess that is good, not sure how to read that so I will just have to wait until Tuesday for the instructor to explain how he went about grading it. He wrote that my ideas were explained better although I was still missing the historical information that should have been in it. Well, I have three more essays to write before the end of the semester, so hopefully I will get better at writing them since they all will be a continue from the first essay.

Tomorrow I am suppose to be able to get my reimbursement check from the loan that I received. I definitely need it and it will really help with gas money. So that is one of my task for tomorrow plus try to finish reading stanzas from a poem for my Medieval class. The Song of Roland is one of the books I have to read and as I was going along reading it, I started to understand it and it was pretty interesting so far. Still have some 83 stanzas to read by Tuesday.

Fast Track Class = Saturday Class

Since I'm taking fast track classes, they have it to where you would have to come in on a Saturday to sort of "make up" the hours that a regular class would have through the semester. Today was a 4 hour class of Accounting, but luckily for us the instructor didn't keep us for that long. I know I will dread the next Saturday class which is next month or November, can't remember off hand, but it's for my next accounting class, Immediate Accounting I and that is a fast track class as well which will be for 6 hours. Oh I hope it won't last that long if the that instructor will be merciful.

The class has test to do for the class that we can take anytime and turn it in before Thursday morning. I went ahead and took it because I knew trying to do it late at night wasn't going to work for me. I think I should have studied a bit more, well actually should have studied as I wasn't to sure about the last part of the test. Well when I did, I got a total surprise. The money had been sitting there since the beginning of August. So I left early enough to get to the bookstore to pick up my Accounting book and two books that I needed for my Medieval history class, especially one that I actually have to have for reading and doing my essays later through the course. Today, since I don't have classes on Friday, I went back through the first 2 chapters in my Accounting class to see if I could understand it on my own. Being in class, it seems so easy to do until you have to sit down and do it yourself. Well I think I got a grasp on the basics of it so far and understand it. I have a project that is due on Monday for Accounting... Yep I actual have class on Labor Day. Tomorrow, I hope I can get an understanding of what we went over in class on Wednesday night from the next 2 chapters. I have to take a break from it and start fresh tomorrow.

I'm not sure how the rough draft of my essay is at the moment for my Medieval class. Two of my classmates will be reading over it, plus the instructor, then they will post comments and such on Moodle. In return, I have to read over my classmates essay drafts as well, do the same on Moodle and also do some reading and answer questions about what I have read. Hopefully I will get the comments about my draft over the weekend. Do you ever do this... when you read someone else work on the same topic, you start to second guess on what you may have written, even though it's from your prospective, your opinion and neccesarily doesn't have a wrong answer. I'm doing that right now. I feel as though after reading what they have written, I'm like, why didn't I think of that, or that what they wrote seems better. Oh well, maybe I'm just thinking to negatively...

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://collegecampusmama.blogspot.com/2008/08/labor-day-weekend-all-work-no-play.html' title='Labor Day Weekend.... It's due on Thursday, but I don't know what I really need to write other than the basic answers to the questions that I'm suppose to answer. I hate when I can't grasp something really well in order to write about it, especially in something that I'm not familiar with or have not that much interest in. I guess it's going to be a long day and a half to get this done. A 2 page essay, in general 250 words per page as the instructor says all it is, isn't easy if it's not that much understood. But since it's only a draft, then I guess I will write what I think the answer may be and see what pointers I can get from him and my peers.

First Week Completed

The first week of the semester zoomed by for me it seemed. I didn't like it when I had to do that for my Computer Programming class, but I survived it though.

Colorful Statistics

I don't know anything about statistics and hopefully it will be as elementary as the the title of the class. My instructor is one of the laid back type, doesn't have much to many rules about things, which is cool. Basically we are adults and we should know what is expected from ourselves... This is my class that ends late and by that time my body is calling me for bedtime. Over the summer I usually would fall asleep about 9pm and now trying to keep my eyes awake and being alert after 10, then driving home, I am normally glad to hit the bed then. That is if I don't have homework, but the good thing is since this class only meets once a week, I still have some time to get it done.In this class, I did come prepared with my book, so Yay for me on that one.

The instructor is using a technique that I think will be cool. As she goes through keywords and working out problems, she will be using different colored markers and have said that some students do the same when taking notes, using colored pencils as they go along. So I marked a note along with with my other supplies to pick those up as well. At least on my free time in between classes, I can do a bit of art to get my mind off of things if need to be.

Writing Papers and Essay... Blah

The university that I am in takes writing as one of the main focuses and I'm not the type of person that like to write essays, papers, etc., but I know that I have to get used to them. In my Medieval class I have a 2 page essay, in draft form, that is due about the end of next week. Even though I don't mind writing out short sentences or a short form of trying to explain things in writing if need to be, but when it comes to things like this, I get a mental block. I start to think about in all possibilites of how I need to write it, will it come across differently then the way I'm trying to write it, will it sound stupid. Something as just writing a blog, I really don't care as to who reads it, whether they get it or not, but something that you are going to get critiqued for and graded at the end, it gets me a bit tensed.

In this class, the essay is just going to be a continuance of what we will be discussing in class and I assume, how we process it into our own ideas and whatnot. And also, my peers will be having a glance at it as well which I already feel if I would be doing this correctly or not and I don't know what the topic is for our first draft essay.... writing is definitely not my best skill in things like this.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://collegecampusmama.blogspot.com/2008/08/writting-papers-and-essay-blah.html' title='Writing Papers and Essay... So far, I already have home due for next class and a project due in two weeks, unfortunately I won't be able to do the first homework assignment since I don't have my book for it yet, but I hopefully I will get it in a few days since I have ordered it from Amazon today. I have also order another book for my Medieval class tonight, so at least I got 3 out of 4 books sorted out in this class. All in all, I have 1 book and a calculator to purchase and then I'm good. At least the books so far haven't cost me an arm and a leg and were very inexpensive.

Fall Semester Has Started

Well, not for me just yet until 6:00pm tonight. That will officially begin my fall semester as a new Accounting student and I'm excited. The only thing is that I don't have all of my textbooks yet... ugh, so I hate going into a class unprepared. I won't be able to get them until I get my loan in another week I think and hopefully I won't be to far behind in homework. Other than that, I'm ready. I have a full week of classes so that is going to be a bit more organizing then going only two nights a week like last semester... but I can do it. Fall semester starts Monday and I'm really excited in going back. Right after high school I entered into a 2 year community college for Graphic Designing and Advertising, but didn't get my Associate Degree because I was missing a few credits. I was hoping to go back, but as life progressed, I didn't put that into plans any further. Fast forward to today, I started my first semester in Spring '08 at a 4 year university for Computer Information Technology. After a so called "Introduction" to Computer Programming, I thought that I would keep my interest into that as a hobby. So now when I enter once again upon the campus I will be stepping into the world of Accounting.
