If I Didn't Happen To Look...

I wouldn't have never know that I had money from financial aid to purchase my textbooks. Yesterday, I was checking out the college website, looking up some information about a new system they were using to where you could check your ID card to see how much available money there is on it. Well when I did, I got a total surprise. The money had been sitting there since the beginning of August. So I left early enough to get to the bookstore to pick up my Accounting book and two books that I needed for my Medieval history class, especially one that I actually have to have for reading and doing my essays later through the course. My next Accounting class that will start in the middle of next month, hopefully I will have my loan by then to get that one. Now I can actually do my homework properly =)

Labor Day Weekend.... All Work, No Play

I have tons of homework to do over the weekend. Today, since I don't have classes on Friday, I went back through the first 2 chapters in my Accounting class to see if I could understand it on my own. Being in class, it seems so easy to do until you have to sit down and do it yourself. Well I think I got a grasp on the basics of it so far and understand it. I have a project that is due on Monday for Accounting... Yep I actual have class on Labor Day. Tomorrow, I hope I can get an understanding of what we went over in class on Wednesday night from the next 2 chapters. I have to take a break from it and start fresh tomorrow.

I'm not sure how the rough draft of my essay is at the moment for my Medieval class. Two of my classmates will be reading over it, plus the instructor, then they will post comments and such on Moodle. In return, I have to read over my classmates essay drafts as well, do the same on Moodle and also do some reading and answer questions about what I have read. Hopefully I will get the comments about my draft over the weekend. Do you ever do this... when you read someone else work on the same topic, you start to second guess on what you may have written, even though it's from your prospective, your opinion and neccesarily doesn't have a wrong answer. I'm doing that right now. I feel as though after reading what they have written, I'm like, why didn't I think of that, or that what they wrote seems better. Oh well, maybe I'm just thinking to negatively...

First Week Completed

The first week of the semester zoomed by for me it seemed. I received my Accounting book that I ordered from Amazon.com in only a day after I ordered which was cool. The only thing is that it doesn't contain the same problems that we have to do for homework..ugh, so I guess I will have to wait until another week before getting the actual textbook and see if a classmate of mine doesn't mind we making copies of the assignments from their book. At least I can stil have some ue from it by just using it for practice problems and for a back up reading.

Next week is going to be where the projects and paper writing will begin. Since I'm taking 2 fast track courses this semester (my accounting classes) and my Statistics class that is once a week, I have to do a Saturday and a Sunday class next month and in October. I will dread the one for Statistics because that will be a half day class, 6 hours. I didn't like it when I had to do that for my Computer Programming class, but I survived it though.

Colorful Statistics

I don't know anything about statistics and hopefully it will be as elementary as the the title of the class. My instructor is one of the laid back type, doesn't have much to many rules about things, which is cool. Basically we are adults and we should know what is expected from ourselves... This is my class that ends late and by that time my body is calling me for bedtime. Over the summer I usually would fall asleep about 9pm and now trying to keep my eyes awake and being alert after 10, then driving home, I am normally glad to hit the bed then. That is if I don't have homework, but the good thing is since this class only meets once a week, I still have some time to get it done.In this class, I did come prepared with my book, so Yay for me on that one.

The instructor is using a technique that I think will be cool. As she goes through keywords and working out problems, she will be using different colored markers and have said that some students do the same when taking notes, using colored pencils as they go along. So I marked a note along with with my other supplies to pick those up as well. At least on my free time in between classes, I can do a bit of art to get my mind off of things if need to be.

Writing Papers and Essay... Blah

The university that I am in takes writing as one of the main focuses and I'm not the type of person that like to write essays, papers, etc., but I know that I have to get used to them. In my Medieval class I have a 2 page essay, in draft form, that is due about the end of next week. Even though I don't mind writing out short sentences or a short form of trying to explain things in writing if need to be, but when it comes to things like this, I get a mental block. I start to think about in all possibilites of how I need to write it, will it come across differently then the way I'm trying to write it, will it sound stupid. Something as just writing a blog, I really don't care as to who reads it, whether they get it or not, but something that you are going to get critiqued for and graded at the end, it gets me a bit tensed.

In this class, the essay is just going to be a continuance of what we will be discussing in class and I assume, how we process it into our own ideas and whatnot. And also, my peers will be having a glance at it as well which I already feel if I would be doing this correctly or not and I don't know what the topic is for our first draft essay.... writing is definitely not my best skill in things like this.
